Pet Grooming Tools For Success

When people get a new pet, they often run out and buy food and water dishes, beds, toys, and collars. But they often do not think about buying pet grooming tools. These are necessary for taking care of your pet properly. Any cat or dog needs basic grooming as a part of their daily lives to be happy and healthy animals.

The first thing you will need is a brush or comb. Bristle brushes work well for nearly any dog, and come in various sizes and bristle lengths to suit the size and coat of your pet. Rakes or matt brushes have fine metal tongs, and are used to remove tangles in longer fur. Alternatively, you could get brushes for your dogs that are designed to reduce shedding. There are also specific brushes for cats for shedding and routine brushing.

The next thing you will need to buy is a claw or nail trimmer. Both cats and dogs need to have their toenails trimmed on a routine basis. Some breeds grow nails very quickly, and failure to trim them can cause them to snag their nails on things and break them off, causing injury. You do not want to use regular toe nail clippers for this, as they are not designed for the roundness of claws and nails on pets. Alternatively, you can purchase a nail file for your pets for even easier and worry free trimming.

Other pet grooming tools you will need include a good flea shampoo, flea collar, and a large absorbent towel for baths. Cats should also have a scratching post to further help manicure their claws on a daily basis.
